How Can I Believe in Jesus?

I believe the Green Bay Packers are going to play the San Francisco 49ers this Saturday at 7:15 PM, CST if the Lord does not return first. I believe this because I have testimony from the NFL, and the Fox Network that this is the case. These two entities can assure us that this is the agreed time and preparations are made for that to occur. Therefore, we can have faith that at 7:15 PM it will occur as planned. We have evidence and faith is based on evidence. Jesus said, “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for except ye believe that I am he , ye shall die in your sins ” (John 8:24). Have you ever considered the enormity of those words? Let’s break down this verse piece by piece so that we can appreciate more of what it means to believe.  For Except Ye Believe Belief is based on evidence. Thomas sought evidence that Jesus had risen from the dead (cf. John 20:24-29). He received evidence as he placed his hands in Jesus’ side and felt his wounds. We ...

The Sanctity of Life

I have written about abortion in the past, and I will still write about it again for the rest of my physical life. However, this week I would like to draw your attention to the sanctity of life in a deeper focus. If a New Testament Christian will appreciate the sanctity of our lives they will consider how they live. Live Separately “Wherefore Come ye out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, And touch no unclean thing; And I will receive you,” (2 Cor 6:17) If my life is sacred, then I must come out and be separate from the paths that lead to destruction. I must be separate. To do this we must consider the types of places we go, the things we practice, the words that come out of our mouths, and the things that we watch. What we tolerate in our homes, and friendships can have eternal consequences. The danger of not being separate is becoming like the world. If we are not separate from evildoers, we find ourselves to be desensitized to evil. This is not to say that we...

Love's Direction

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.  For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him.” John 3:16-17      Love is such a great and powerful force in our lives. The greatest love this world has ever known is that which our Heavenly Father has shown to us. That He sent His Son to redeem the lost and that through the system of faith we should not perish but have eternal life. God had clear intentions when He extended that love toward us. We, too, can learn that our love must be intentional because love without direction can be dangerous.  Love of the World      Be not mistaken, this is not the love of our neighbors/enemies (Matt 5:43-48) that we are talking about. This is the love of the world that is warned against in John 12:42-44 where many of the rulers believed Jesus but would not confes...
